LinkedIn I’m Lost…

LinkedIn, the world’s leading professional networking platform, has revolutionized how we connect with colleagues, clients, and potential employers. However, some features of the platform’s user interface must be clarified for many users, navigating the maze of saves and settings.

Where are my saves?

One common frustration among LinkedIn users is the save feature. When you stumble upon an interesting post or article while using the mobile app, the intuitive thing to do is to save it for later. However, this is where the confusion sets in. Many users have reported that their saved items disappear into the digital abyss, making the “save” function seem somewhat pointless. Finding saved items can be complicated, and users are left wondering why such an essential feature isn’t more accessible.

Where I can find the “private profile”?

On the other hand, LinkedIn settings are essential for personalizing your experience and managing your privacy. Yet, the most sought-after setting, “private profile” (which allows users to browse profiles anonymously), is inaccessible. Users often need clarification on the unmanageable task of locating this feature within the two settings menu. In the process, they may stumble into unrelated settings, only to become lost and frustrated.

Why there are two different settings?

The root of the confusion lies in the fact that LinkedIn has two separate settings sections, adding to the cognitive friction experienced by users. The redundancy creates unnecessary complexity, resulting in users needing help and getting out on required features.

Why isn’t the “save” feature more upfront and easily accessible, given its significance in personal content curation?
Why isn’t “ghost mode” presented prominently, considering its popularity among users?
Why maintain two different settings sections when consolidation could streamline the user experience and reduce confusion?

LinkedIn’s mission is to empower professionals, but a complicated user interface does the opposite. Simplifying the user experience by making crucial features readily accessible can significantly enhance the platform’s functionality. By addressing these concerns, LinkedIn can ensure that users can navigate the platform with ease and confidence, ultimately strengthening its position as the go-to platform for professional networking.
